I would like to comment on Saul, there was no such thing as a “Christian” at that time. The early followers of Jesus were called Nazarenes. The word Christian was used for the first time by Paul (Saul) when he and Barnabas stayed in Antioch for a year (Acts 11:26) to describe the followers of Jesus. Saul was a Pharisee (Acts 23:6), but how come in the New Testament there are verses stating to be careful with Pharisees (Luke 12:1, Mark 8:15, Matthew 16:6, 11). So, how can Jesus warn about being careful with the Pharisees, when the first propagator of Christian theology was a Pharisee? |
