AMINA, THE ORPHAN

CHAPTER 1

Amina was a young girl who lived in an orphanage. She had been there since she was a baby, and she didn't know anything about her parents or her past. The orphanage was a big, old building with many rooms and many children.

Amina shared a room with several other girls. The room was small and crowded, with narrow beds and worn-out mattresses. The girls had to share everything, from clothes to toys to secrets.

Amina's days were filled with chores and routines. She woke up early in the morning to help with the cleaning and the cooking. She swept the floors, washed the dishes, and helped to prepare meals for the other children.

After finishing her chores, Amina went to school. The school was located in a nearby building, and it was attended by all the children from the orphanage. Amina loved learning new things, and she was a good student.

But despite her busy schedule, Amina always felt like something was missing. She longed for a family of her own, for parents who would love her and take care of her. She dreamed of having a mom and dad who would tuck her into bed at night, who would read her stories and sing her lullabies.

As she lay in bed at night, Amina would often wonder about her past. Who were her parents? Why had they abandoned her? Did they ever think about her?

The other children at the orphanage seemed to have given up hope of ever finding their families. They had been there for so long, and they had been disappointed so many times. But Amina was different. She held onto hope, no matter how small it seemed.

One day, as Amina was walking back to the orphanage from school, she saw a woman standing outside the gate. The woman was dressed in a long, colorful dress, and she had a kind face. Amina felt a sense of curiosity, and she walked over to the woman.

Hello, the woman said, smiling. My name is Fatima. I've been looking for you, Amina.

Amina's heart skipped a beat. Looking for me? she repeated.

Fatima nodded. Yes, I have some news about your past. Would you like to hear it?

Amina's mind was racing. Could it be true? Could Fatima really know something about her parents? She felt a sense of excitement and fear, and she didn't know what to do.

Y-yes, she stuttered. I want to hear it.

Fatima smiled and took Amina's hand. Let's go somewhere quiet, she said. I have a lot to tell you.
