One person said that believing in Jesus' death as sacrifice for our sins is madness.

He explained that God does not require sacrifice to forgive our sins. He further noted that blood sacrifices look pegan or cultist. This sounds reasonable. Lets reason it out.

Firstly, God's word states that the penalty of sin is death. God does not contradict His word. He keeps His word.
All who sinned had to get their penalty.

However, God is merciful to his creation, He saw it fit that the sin of all would be cleared through one man. Christ Jesus the Son of God took the form of a man to fulfill this mission due to his much love for mankind.
He gave up himself willingly even knowing beforehand all the torment.

He who had no sin took on the burden of all. His sacrifice is unique from all sacrifices of all time.

It is honoring and appreciative to acknowledge and accept Jesus' sacrifice. The ransom for our life.
