I have only one cheat to communicate here: after picking fighters, press and hold (5)+(*) before the 'vs' screen appear, then when they say 'fight', release and the letters 'sc' will appear in any of the four screen conners, wait for opponent to attack, then quit after hitting you once. Re-open and play then you'll see how characters will look.
